The photo on the left gave birth to this series.
One day in June of 2012 I came across this picture and it spawned not a thousand words, but tens of thousands of words, and counting.
This photo, this photo has a story behind it I told myself and I was going to sit down and figure out what it was. You see, I almost never know how a story will unfold when I begin it, but I rarely begin writing one without having an inkling of how I want it to end.
So, before writing a story to go with my new favorite picture, I sat down and gave it some thought. I felt that it was a short story and not a novel, and I also like my short stories to have a twist, and then I thought, "What would be a good twist in a tale about a serial killer?" And viola! Dr. White and her husband were born.
Dr. White's husband has never been given a name, but it wasn't something that I set out to do on purpose. It just sort of grew out of the first TAKEN! where there was no need to mention his name. When I began TAKEN! 2, I realized that I'd never named him, and decided that he could just get along without one.
How long will I continue to write this series? I will keep writing them until it's no longer fun to do so, but, I'll let you in on a little secret--they're a blast to write, an absolute blast. I only pray that you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoy writing them.
Thanks for coming along for the ride,
Donald Wells
